Need to find a rat breeder - Can anyone tell me of a respected rat breeder or rattery in the Northern VA area? I'd rather not get my new pet rat at a pet store, as those rats can be questionable in health and are generally not handled much/tamed to humans.

leaving gerbils at home while on vacation - My family are going away for a week at Christmas. We have three female one-year old gerbils. If we can't find someone to leave them with or at least to check on them, is it okay to leave them alone with sufficient water and food for a week? gerbilfan
