Hi... this is from a few days ago... didn't see it until now...
The following are really good gerbil "treats." Give very little of
each, but provide a wide variety for stimulation and nutrition. Do be
aware that too many fattening nuts and seeds can cause obesity in
-seeds & nuts: sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, walnuts (crack open the
shell and let them use their teeth to get to the meat), peanuts
-grains: cheerios (unsweetened), fresh whole grain bread, dried corn
-fruits: apple (no seeds), grapes, pomegranite, a little bit of
banana, peach, or plum (limit fruits, as they are high in sugar), very
small amounts of citrus (mine do not like citrus at all)
-dried fruits: dried banana, raisins, apple
-vegetables: peas are a HUGE hit in my gerbilville, broccoli,
cauliflower, pepper, lettuce (small amounts), cucumber, green beans
NOW, if you have really picky eaters, I would go for sunflower seeds
and peas. I have NEVER had a gerbil turn them down. Walnuts in the
shell are another good bet, but not as sure as the other two.
Good luck! >> Stay informed about: Gerbils - favourite treat?
